British Comedy Awards 2012 nominees announced (updated with winners!)

The competition for the British Comedy Awards looks stiffer than ever, with some of the greatest comedians the UK has to offer up for nomination as well as two of the BBC’s flagship sitcoms going head to head in three separate categories.

The 32nd annual British Comedy Awards sponsored by Fosters is taking place on 12th December and will once again be hosted by veteran chat show presenter Jonathan Ross. It will also be broadcast live on Channel 4.

The winners will be chosen by a panel of 57 judges, working for entertainment companies including the BBC, ITV, and C4, as well as artists, other comedians and critics.

The public does get a say in who gets the coveted ‘King / Queen of Comedy Award’, with Alan Carr, Lee Mack, Jack Whitehall, Graham Norton, David Mitchell and 2011’s queen of comedy Sarah Millican all vying for trophy (voting details can be found in the full nomination listings below).

More information can be found about all the comedians and shows can be found at the British Comedy Awards website.
