Argentinean Beatles tribute band Nube 9 are heading out on the road, bringing their finely tuned set of Beatles hits to North America, playing gigs across Florida, and culminating at the Abbey Road on the River Beatles Festival in Kentucky.
First the band are hitting Florida to play two gigs in Miami and one in Jacksonville, then they head up to Kentucky to take part in the annual festival alongside other musicians including Herman’s Hermits’ Peter Nonne, Peter from Peter & Gordon, and Leon Russell.
The Abbey Road on the River festival has been running since 2002 and is held in two locations: Louisville KY and Washington DC. Every year it attracts thousands and thousands of tourists from around the world making it one of the biggest Beatles attractions outside of the UK.
The first two gigs are taking place at Miami’s world famous Van Dyke Cafe. A favourite restaurant for its international breakfast, lunch and dinner fares, it also prides itself on being the only live music venue in the area. The gigs should be able to be viewed live on the cafe’s website here.
Nube 9 (or Cloud 9 in English) consists of Fernando Blanco on bass, Lucrecia López Sanz on guitar, Julián Carranza on guitar, Juan Pablo Ezquerra in keyboards, Fernando Viola on keyboards and Nicolás Jara on drums, and have toured across Europe and played gigs in Russia with original Beatles drummer Pete Best.
They were also the support act for Ringo Starr’s concerts in Buenos Aires in 2011, performing alongside many well known musicians including Mark Hudson, Alan White (from Yes and John Lennon’s band), Steve Holley (from Wings) and Jimmy Rip (from Mick Jagger’s band), and were even lucky enough to back guitarist for Paul McCartney Brian Ray’s Tourette Del Sol to promote his album This Way Up.
Lone female Lucrecia López Sanz has also been busy working alongside Brian Ray and his song writing partner Oliver Leiber in new band The Bayonets. The band has had considerable success with their debut single Sucker For Love, and hope to receive the same positive feedback from the subsequent four singles that they will be releasing throughout 2013.
Needless to say Nube 9 has earned quite a reputation in the industry, so if you manage to get to see one of the gigs then you are guaranteed a good night filled with good music. And UK fans needn’t feel left out: Nube 9 have made semi-regular appearances at Liverpool’s annual Beatles Week, and will be playing again at this years festival held between 21st and 27th August.
