Paul McCartney ‘Out There’ tour dates announced

With the recent announcement that Wings legend Paul McCartney would be embarking upon his brand new Out There tour, dates have finally been released with shows spread across South America, Europe, North America and Canada.

The tour kicks off on the 4th May at he Mineirão Stadium in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, followed by a couple of other Brazilian shows before heading up to North America, briefly across to Europe for shows in Poland, Italy and Austria,  back to North America again and up to Canada. Full dates can be found at the end of the article.

Touted as a ‘brand new tour’, it is expected that Macca will be giving his stale setlist a long overdue overhaul, shaking up the same core Beatles tribute show that he has been peddling for the past few years. And with the announcement that Wings’ seminal live album Wings Over America is due for a rerelease, it is hoped that he will explore his criminally ignored Wings and solo back catalogue.

Also as part of the tour Paul will be headlining two of the biggest outdoor music festivals in America: The Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee and the Outside Lands festival in California.

But despite the excitement there have been criticisms that the world tour is more of an American tour with a handful of token European dates thrown in. UK Twitter user @FranksterJones tweeted: “Countless North American dates announced for Paul’s fake world tour. ‘Been There USA’. I wonder if he remembers where Liverpool is?” Similarly many UK and European fans criticise Macca for following the money and playing in the US, while seemingly forgetting about the country that gave him his big break in the music industry around 50 years ago.

Tour promotion company Marshall Arts confirmed that “at this stage there are no plans for any UK Paul McCartney shows”, infuriating fans in Paul McCartney’s home country.
