Due to be released on Wednesday October 8th, Queenie Eye is lined up to be the second single from Paul McCartney’s upcoming studio album New. Produced by Paul Epworth, Queenie Eye will also be accompanied by a music video starring Hollywood A-Listers including Johnny Depp and Sean Penn, as well as a bunch of lucky hand selected fans.
Reportedly quite a trippy and fun song, Queenie Eye supposedly sounds like the hybrid offspring of The Beatles’ I A The Walrus from their Magical Mystery Tour album and Monkberry Moon Delight from one of Paul’s early solo studio albums Ram.
Paul McCartney’s official website also put out a casting call looking for hip, cool and trendy fans to be included in the promotional video that will accompany Queenie Eye. Filmed at the world famous Abbey Road Studios in London, the video also includes cameos from such Hollywood Stars and Johnny Depp and Sean Penn.
One lucky fan who was selected to be part of the cast of extras took to Macca’s official forum to express her delight at being in attendance:
I ended up bumping into all manner of people, such as Meryl Streep, Gary Barlow, Kate Moss and Tom Ford. Rumours were also circulating that Johnny Depp, Jude Law, Jeremy Irons and Alice Eve had been there the day before.
Paul, looking healthy and happy in blue, and was wonderfully relaxed and chatty throughout [the shoot]. To witness him sitting there, ‘thinking out loud’ on the piano between takes, in Abbey Road Studio 2, was, without one of the highlights of my entire life. He broke into the odd jazz standard, a bit of Babyface, and a chorus of Lady Madonna. What a man. A Hofner bass was propped up on a stand behind him. I let my mind ring with all the fly-on-the-wall studio chatter from back in the day, and it was as if the past fifty years just drifted away. Magical.
I made my way home – after an hour of manic dancing under baking studio lights – convinced that life just could not get any better.
