The Bayonets celebrate their first birthday!

February 14th not only marks Valentines Day, the single most romantic day of the year, but it also marks the date that indie rock band The Bayonets blasted onto the music scene by releasing their first single, the appropriately titled Sucker For Love.

The bouncy and exciting pop song is a blast of pure pop joy, with infectious hooks aplenty, 60’s tinged stark guitars, thumping drums and unadorned lyrics. You can read my original review of Sucker For Love here! You can also see the music video to the song that started it all at the end of this post!

In the one whirlwind year since their first single was released, The Bayonets have covered a lot of ground. With a little help from Steven Van Zandt and the Underground Garage radio show Sucker For Love received a HUGE promotional push. They followed it up with the second single Smartphone, then with Vagabond Soul (featuring Aerosmith legend Steven Tyler). Finally they rounded it off by releasing the final two singles Whatcha Got and Big Man Down.

Inbetween all this, the band – consisting of Brian Ray, Oliver Lieber and Lucrecia Lopez Sans have been on a mini tour of Argentina, recorded videos for three of the singles, and even been considered for a GRAMMY nomination. And to top it all off all this was fit in inbetween the band members busy schedules!

“So what’s next for The Bayonets?” I hear you cry! Word is out that an album is in progress, and further details will be coming VERY soon…so stay tuned!

In the meantime be sure to visit the band’s official website or view their Wikipedia page!

So what has been your favorite single? Do you remember first hearing the music of The Bayonets? Do you have any special Bayonet memories? Do you have any messages for the band? Please be sure to let me know in the comments in the section below!

Oh, and…

to The Bayonets, and to everyone else…
