Originally only Saturdays show at Tokyo’s National Stadium was affected, with the concert being rescheduled for 2 days later. However due to his health not improving sufficiently enough for the next days show, doctors ordered Macca to cancel the Sunday concert and the rearranged Monday concert.
Over the course of his illustrious career Paul has only ever cancelled a handful of gigs due to illness, and ever the consummate professional, he was eager to perform despite doctors order. However his team, alongside the medical advisors, overruled him.
Paul issued an apology in a statement on his official website, saying:
Thank you so much for your kind messages of support. I’m so very touched. Unfortunately my condition has not improved overnight. I was really hoping that I’d be feeling better today. I’m so disappointed and sorry to be letting my fans down.
It was also explained that his team are looking at rescheduling options. It is hoped that Paul will be well enough for his performance at the historic Nippon Budokan on the 21st.
