Willie Nelson’s The Wall is a typically country-tinged and sadly smiling look back at his long career, celebrating the success garnered through it all as well as offering a sincere apology to those he’s hurt along the way.
With cleanly picked guitars and the simplest of drums, Willie Nelson’s voice is still strong and holds firm against a bluesy and plaintively wailing harmonica.
He recalls good times, the highs, the successes and excesses while never forgetting the pain and heartache he has both caused and suffered while forging one of country musics most celebrated careers.
Yet The Wall shows that everything is in balance and he finally seems at peace with himself and his life.
Country music may not be everyone’s cup of tea, however for those that enjoy the style the single is a resonant one. One that everyone can relate to in some way, shape or form. Granted, very few have been as lucky in life as Willie Nelson, however we have all experienced our our own excessive highs and lows.
The Wall is the lead single from his new album Band Of Brothers, scheduled for release June 17th.
