A modern, upbeat song, Take That’s new single These Days is the funky, disco tinged lead track from their upcoming album III. The first song the band have released as a trio (following the departures of both Robbie Williams and Jason Orange), These Days is a breath of fresh air, adding another interesting twist to Take That’s lengthy back catalogue.
With the first handful of bars consisting of vocals and piano only, the tempo is soon turned up as the poppy drums kick in, turning what originally seems like a ballad into a dance-y, up tempo pop song. It’s like the band have taken the basic template of some of their big ’90s hits and updated it for the more mature 2010s crowd.
Despite Take That’s highs and lows, ups and downs, break ups and make ups, the new single – and in turn the new album – have every chance of putting the band once again back on the map and showing that however in or out of the public consciousness they are, they are never too far from the centre of the circle with their fingers firmly on the pulse.
These Days is set for release on November 23rd with the album III following a week later on the 30th. You can keep up to date with all the latest Take That news by visiting their official website.
