If you’re a movie lover (as I am) then 2015 is shaping up to be a pretty fantastic year to be alive! With some mega blockbusters making their way to the big screen over the course of the year, it’s really going to be a clash of the Titans. And here’s what I’m looking forwards to most…!
Me, personally, I love the genres of sci-fi, action and comedy. Not necessarily all of them, but that’s my usual thing. And of course you can’t beat a good franchise to get your teeth into (as opposed to one off offerings). I loved Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, the first phase of the Marvel series was fantastic, the Star Wars saga has been my number 1 set of movies for as long as I can remember…I could go on!
So the fact that 2015 is offering continuations to some of the greatest franchises in the movie business makes this year a fantastic, if not a little pricey, time to be a movie-goer. Here is an overview of what I’m looking forwards too, including a very brief synopsis and trailer:
Avengers: Age of Ultron
(23rd April 2015)
When genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist and inventor or ‘Iron Man’ Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping programme, things go awry and it is up to the Avengers to stop the villainous Ultron from enacting his terrible plans.
(11th June 2015)
Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park (1993), Isla Nublar now features the fully functioning dinosaur theme park as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor’s interest, which backfires horribly.
(19th June 2015)
After a little girl called Riley moves to a new home, her emotions, Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness, are plunged into chaos as they compete for control of her mind. Unfortunately Sadness accidentally causes herself and Joy to get lost within the rest of Riley’s Mind.
(17th July 2015)
Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
The Good Dinosaur
(25th November 2015)
What if the cataclysmic asteroid that forever changed life on Earth actually missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? After a traumatic event, Arlo, a lively 70-foot-tall teenage Apatosaurus with a big heart, sets out on a quest to restore peace, gaining an unlikely companion along the way – a young human boy named Spot.
Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens
(18th December 2015)
Set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983), new heroes Poe, Ray and Finn team up with classic favorites Han Solo, Chewbacca and Princess Leia in an attempt to put an end to mysterious Force user and ancient Sith relic collector Kylo Ren.
So that just about covers my 2015 highlights. And I have plenty to look forwards to next year…Captain America: Civil War (6th May 2016), Finding Dory (17th June 2016) Independence Day: ID Forever Part 1 (24th June 2016) Dr Strange (4th November 2016), Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (18th November 2016) Star Wars: Anthology – Rogue One (December 2016)…Yep, looks like 2016 is shaping up to be a great movie year too!
