With terrorism being so prominent in the world today and the West facing more and more attacks from groups such as ISIS, I have to question the motives of those behind the atrocities and question how much of this pain and suffering we have brought on ourselves through actions such as constant meddling in Muslim countries.
This isn’t going to be a long post, just needed to get it off my chest and get the thoughts out there.
And I’ll start by saying I’m against terrorism of any kind, and from any side, it is destructive, it ruins lives, it is completely unacceptable.
Don’t get me wrong, the attacks in Paris were horrific and the pain and anguish they have caused for so many is tangible, but a vast majority of people don’t take a step back and view the whole terrorism situation with some objectivity. They don’t ask a burningly important question: why do they do it?
Let’s start with this specific attack. Only the day before had the west being showboating because they successfully killed the ISIS poster boy known as Jihadi John in a drone strike. The attacks was a response from ISIS. If there’s a dangerous dog and you’ve stolen it’s favourite stick, don’t be shocked when the dog comes after you and bites you.
Granted, a coordinated attack of that scale can’t be planned at such short notice, but there was still that unneeded provocation from the West: ‘we’ve taken out your poster boy’. And the West got bit.
One could say that they are blinded by their indoctrinated and deeply ingrained ideology. An age old mantra: Destroy the infidel if they are not willing to believe that their tainted religion is the right religion to follow. No one can argue that that isn’t a factor in what they do. Religion causes far too many problems in this world.
But having Western troops illegally invade their homelands, taking land, resources, and ‘stabilising’ the East with invasions, violence, bloodshed, drone attacks, war crimes… Muslims die at the hands of Western troops every single day. To them, WE are the terrorists. But none of it is reported. None of it ever makes its way into the mainstream media.
Case in point, did you hear about the hospital in Baghdad that got repeatedly bombed last month because our allied forces believed there were terrorists there? They killed 22+ people including several children? Does it ring a bell? Thought not. Well it turns out there weren’t even any terrorists there…so they just kind of brushed that under the carpet.
If the boot was on he other foot and they attacked a hospital in London or New York, we would be on the war path, ready to send troops in and fight, occupy and ‘do whatever is necessary.
A box of fireworks isn’t dangerous in itself until fire is added. Western military forces in their homelands are that fire. And then the rest of the world is wondering why the box of fireworks has gone off and everyone has been burnt.
Anyway, I’ll leave it there. There’s so much more to say – this is only the tip of the iceberg. And I’ve not even touched on the innumerable coincidences, questionable ‘facts’, and paper thin official stories when it comes to terrorist attacks on the West. But that’s another post for another day.
Anyway, if you take nothing away from this post then please just remember this one thing: to believe the West doesn’t at least partly deserve what it gets is short sighted, close minded and, when all is said and done, just plain wrong.
