Single review: Janet Delvin – Wonderful

The first single from 2011 X Factor contestant Janet Devlin’s upcoming album is the breezily fun and almost summer-y Wonderful. Self-penned and with it’s sprightly acoustic guitar layered underneath the playful creamy Irish-tinged vocal, Wonderful has turned out to be a pleasant offering from the singer/songwriter.

At only 19 Janet has already been through a lot to get to where she is today. After coming 5th on the 2011 X Factor, she continued to work hard  to build her reputation as a performer as well as expanding her all-important fanbase. While the single offers nothing groundbreaking, the fast pace and heartfelt, beautifully delivered lyrics drive the song along and make it a worthwhile listen.

In the same way that Wonderful skips along like a pebble being skimmed across the water, director Gary Dumbill also put together an equally light and naturalistic video. It features Janet sailing on vast open lakes, walking through luscious woodland and keeping warm in the glow of a fire.

While Janet may have earnt herself a small break, she will not be taking one. Heading to France  with producer and song-writer, James Sanger, Janet is getting straight back to work on her album which is set for release early in 2014.

As James is a man who has worked alongside such acts as Faithless, Sinead O’Connor, The Pet Shop Boys, The Cardigans, Bryan Adams and K D Lang, he is credited with 60 million record sales worldwide.

You can buy the single Wonderful (as well as preordering the album) from iTunes, Amazon and Janets official website.
