Robbie Williams Announces European Summer Tour

Hot on the heels of his explosive three night residency at London’s O2 arena, Robbie Williams has announced a 17-date European tour for summer 2013.

Speaking at a press conference hosted by Samsung, Robbie said “I want to deliver a huge tour while I still can and while I’m still capable. I want to put my stamp down and go ‘remember me, this is what I’m good at’”

Kicking off with two shows at the Ethihad Stadium in Manchester, the tour heads up to Scotland for concerts in Glasgow, then down south for four nights in London before heading across the water to mainland Europe, passing through countries such as Germany, Denmark and Sweden, before coming to a close at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds in Estonia. Robbie admitted that he would have to brush up on his language skills, but was quick to add “I speak the international language of love and pop!”

As well as talking about the highly anticipated tour, Robbie also spoke about fatherhood. “Something cosmically has changed within me,” he said about his baby girl Theodora Rose, “She’s rounding off my sharp edges”.

He also spoke about his time with his old boyband Take That: “Touring with Take That took focus off of my career and back on fun. It was like a busman’s holiday. It allowed me to regain my focus.”

Robbie acknowledged that his previous musical ventures Rudebox and Reality Killed the Video star were both relative flops, however he feels confident enough in his latest album Take the Crown to head out on the road with it and give it the love, attention and (most importantly) promotion that the previous two albums failed to get.

The big surprise of the press conference was the revelation that pop sensation Olly Murs would be accompanying Robbie on the tour as a support act “He’s smashing it,” Robbie enthused “he’s having hit after hit and I see a lot of myself in him!” The pair have previously sung together during the finals of the 2009 X Factor in which Olly was the runner up, and Robbie dropped some sly hints that he pair may once again duet on a song or two during the tour.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on the 30th November on both www.robbiewilliams.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk

As an added extra treat, at the same time as purchasing tickets fans can also pre-order of the 3-disc live album CD of the concert they attend. This can be picked up straight after the show!
